Kashi Fiber Is Above My Skillset

Whilst attempting to meet the minimum requirements to pass the weekly "Kroger Shopper's Math Exam" today, I saw where some of your fine products were listed in the "Buy 3 and Save Money' Challenge section of the aforementioned Quiz. I decided to mosie on over and take a gander at your current entries into the "Breakfast With Fiber" Category.

What You Hear Depends On Who You're Listening To

Society is in an awful place. People are unhappy about their jobs, relationships, health, and living conditions. Religious and political leaders are the worst they have ever been. And yet, some people love their careers, spouses and homes. They enjoy great health. They seem to be happy at church and with their leaders. What's the difference between the two? It depends on who you're listening to.

Do What You Can, When You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have

I don't have a big yard anymore. And I don't have a big garden anymore. But I do grow a lot of stuff in a very small space. I think I do pretty good with it. I work it year round, but more so in the spring. On Sunday's, I usually sift a little soil from a compost pile. That's what the picture is. I made this contraption about three years ago. I call it my Shamgar Soil Sifter.

Not Everything That Flies Is An Eagle

I just got out of a Blab.IM. If you don't know what that is, it's OK. It's a fairly new platform. At this writing it's a little over 4 months old. It don't know how many people are on it. They haven't released the numbers yet. Honestly, I don't know that they ever will. Whatever they are, they are changing very rapidly. I wouldn't want to gander a guess either. Besides, that's not what this post is about. This is a post about people. That's it. And you can find plenty of people over at Blab.IM.

What Kind Of People?

Currently there are a lot of Social Media Specialist. At least that's what they say they are. They can get you followers. They can get you likes. You want to be in more G+ Circles? No problem. They can do that too! They are 'awesome' and you should listen to them. Because they are Social Media Specialist/Strategist/Managers. They can build your business. And there are a ton of them over at Blab telling you how you how to make money. Neat. Except they are sitting on broke asses.

Sharing Is Caring Isn't Always The Case

Stan Bush - Stanology - The Truth About Sharing

All Shares Are NOT Created Equal

"Sharing Is Caring". I've watched this nonsensical idea proliferate between 10 an 20 years. There are some things about it that are spot on. And there are some things about it that trouble me. Since we are on a five minute timer, I'll get straight to them.

Sharing Your Best Stuff

I've never seen a guru share every thing they do. Ever. They are always reminding you that they 'give away their best stuff." But, isn't their best stuff the books, CD's, or other products their selling? The book guru wants you to share their stuff so they can sell more books. The Training guru wants you to share their stuff so they can sell more training. The car guy wants you to share his post so he can sell more cars. Don't misunderstand me. I don't think there's anything wrong with sharing. But buying their products and giving them yours isn't an equitable exchange. In my view, it is a one way exploitation of your willingness to help.

StanOlogy - Inaugural Post

Just something some guy named Stan thinks about.

This Is Both Difficult and Comforting

It's not very often that I do something like this. In order to do this, I'm going to have to step out of my comfort zone. I know, I know.... some of  you don't think I have a comfort zone. But I do really. Internally, we are all alike. We feel the same things about our selves.  Well, until we come to realize that we can change that. Especially when it comes to fear. What is there really to be afraid about? What's the worst that can happen. Someone not like my video? Or maybe they get offended (most likely). What's that really going to do to me though? Nothing...nothing at all. That's it's not already doing. In other words, I can feel bad about myself, all by myself. Or I can take a big chance an see where things land.

The Meaning of CTW

STANOLOGY - Change The World!

If you read any of my stuff, then you know that I use the expression "Let's Do This Thing! CTW!" It's sort of like a tag line thing.  It helps keep me motivated and it also says I'm a person that wants to get things done.  It's also the very same expression I used back in the 70's and 80's as the National Manager of a chain of retail stores.

I Treat My Customers Like My Dog

Her name is Bobbie. She's a dog. When people ask me what kind, I tell 'em "a brown one'. She's a Heinz 57 and she's a pain in the "you know what."  Some of her qualities are:

  • It's impossible to keep her off the couch.
  • You can forget putting food on the coffee table for more than 30 seconds.
  • She prefers paper towels and toilet paper roll snacks, rather than Snausages or Cheese. She's smart like that.
But she taught me something that no books on marketing ever could. She taught me how to become a client's best friend, or 'favorite resource' in marketing terms. You can call it "inbound marketing' if that's what floats your boat.

Are You Going To Fix This

It was almost 8:30 PM. I had been there for two days straight. I wasn't alone. It was early in my IT career and there were two other techs there. They were geeks. You could tell by the taped together broken eyeglasses on one, and the Microshaft Skirtified shirt on the other. They were geniuses in their field and way ahead of anything I could even aspire to be. Everytime I suggested something I was met with sideways glares and condescending responses.  Yet here I was. Because I was asked to be there.

What's Free - What's Not

Stan Bush - What I Charge Foir
Charging for services rendered is a necessity of business. With Technology services there may be questions concerning what is billable.  As knowledge bank availability has increased, cost of access has decreased.  Some mistake Google results for professional expertise.  Just because you can Google "expert" doesn't mean you are one.  There is no substitute for experience.

Chasing Butterflies And Bacon

Butterflies are beautiful.  But there ain't a lot of meat on 'em.  Unless you're a bird, frog, or insect, you won't find them very filling.
